Tan Boots

Ahhhhhh - remember how I bought these boots a while ago and how I wished that I had bought the tan version before they sold out? Well Zara may have solved my issue with these beauties! Love 'em, and even better they're in my price range. WIN. I may also have to buy these beauties...

Somewhat less practical but also so ridiculously pretty that they need to be in my wardrobe. It's the end of November so my self imposed shopping ban can finally come to an end! Hurrah!

Tis nearly the season...

Christmas just screams out for a new party dress and this French Connection one is berluddy lovely. Just enough sparkle to satisfy my currents cravings and I love the open back to balance out the subdued length. I'll do a longer post on potential party outfits because their are plenty that I have my eye on.

glitter garland

Isn't this garland beautiful? I've started letting my mind drift to decorating for Christmas and considering my current glitter kick, this is perfect! Plus it's under £10 from etsy. I think it would make a lovely addition to a room. It would be lovely after Christmas too, perfect for parties at any time of year.

Gold elbow patches

Remember how about 5 minutes ago I wrote a post about loving the difference a hint of glitter makes to an outfit? Well I may have topped it with this jumper.

cashmere knit + GOLD + elbow patches = my idea of heaven
{here}

{you have no idea how delighted I am by this piece of knitwear - if only I had $298 and didn't live in the UK}

Buns

I am longing for longer hair right now. The kind that people seems to fall effortlessly into thick waves. Sadly, my hair seems to go rather thin and flat when I grow it too long, despite my best efforts to combat this {any product tips would be greatly appreciated!}. Instead my hair and I have reached a compromise - it's long enough to play around with and style yet short enough to be thick and smart/grown up enough. In particular it's the perfect length to throw up on top of my head in a bun.

I love the simplicity of it all and how chic and classic they can look in all their guises - from messy and plonked on top of your head, to fashioned around a foam donut {such a good investment!}. I love all these images - doesn't the girl in the second picture just look so chic? With the volume at the crown and the bun fastened close and low to the nape of her neck. Perfect. I love the first image too - the kind of the bun that I'd feel more comfortable wearing to work {though on non-hair washing days by the end of the day, my hair is often in a bun. Who am I kidding?!}. Isn't the colour of her hair simply stunning too?

Frankincense & Myrrh Candle

I am absolutely obsessed with this candle from Marks & Spencer. I bought it embarrassingly early {for a Christmas candle} but just couldn't help myself, so you'll have to excuse the fact it has clearly been burnt! It smells gorgeous - really Christmassy - and for £6 it's great value for money. They're on 3 for 2 at the moment too. They do seem to sell out quite quickly though so I'd recommend moving fast - I'll be stocking up as soon as pay day rolls around. I'm not as keen on this year's design {I kept mine from last year as glasses} but they do a hammered gold version that looks even prettier, and would be perfect for storing bits and pieces or as a small vase, as you've burned out the last of the candle.

I'm intrigued by this Christmas Spice candle too. I'm quite particular about how my candles smell though, so I think I'd need to go check it out in person! If it's anywhere near as lovely as the Frankincense & Myrrh one however....

Candles are such a cheap, effective way of setting the mood in your home. I love coming home when the nights are dark, closing the curtains and lighting a few of the multitude of candles that we have dotted around our home. It really does make things so much cozier! They're even better when you hit upon a good value, lovely smelling one.

Knitting

Not long ago, I got back into the habit of knitting and I'm so pleased I have. I find the whole process very relaxing and whilst nothing I am churning out looks like the gorgeous stash above, I'm having a ball giving it a go. It's great for keeping my hands busy at night {instead of snacking or fiddling with my nail varnish!} and you get pretty rapid results, especially if you're using thick needles and chunky wool. I have never been terribly good at casting on or off however, which is where this video has been a bit of a life saver. It's actually a pretty simple skill to pick up, especially when you can watch it in video form rather than reading instructions off a page. I can't encourage you enough to pick up a pair of needles!

Glitter...

Wow. Apologies for the radio silence. These past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of birthday celebrations for my lovely boyfriend and various other family members, visits to family and working lots of long hours. All things I should have taken photos for but completely forgot! Definite shame because I made an insane chocolate cake and birthday bunting for the boy's birthday. Ah well! Coupled with that, I've been feeling a little bit uninspired for topics: I've been crafting away like a loon but they're all Christmas gifts for people so I can't show you just yet {patience!} and I'm on a self inflicted shopping hiatus during November so post topics have felt a bit thin on the ground. That said, I finally feel back into the swing of things so hopefully we can just pick up where we left off!

Moving on...

Now that Halloween is over, I can't help but slip into a more festive frame of mind. I love dressing for this season - cozy knits, layers and boots - and I equally love the glitz and glamour that comes with winter. I've got glitter on the brain at the mo. From eyeshadow, to nail polish and clothing, I'm obsessed. I love the sparkle it can add to an outfit  - even those cozy, chunky, simple knits. I've pulled together some of my glittery inspiration images. As soon as this shopping hiatus is over, I fancy getting my mitts on a new glitter eyeshadow. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've got plenty of shimmery numbers but I'd love a true glitter {maybe MAC is the way forward?}. I especially love how sticking glitter on nails, eyes or even the back of your shoes adds an understated and unexpected bit of glamour to an outfit!
